Hampshire Hotels & Resorts Cooperate Office

WQB helped with the conversion of an existing residential building to corporate operations offices for Hampshire Hotels and Resorts. Work included gut renovation of interiors to modern office space and restoration of facades as well as redevelopment of exit ways to expand the dining room for the Staye Deli in the adjacent building.
ABP (Advanced Business Park) is a pioneering real estate project focused on large scale spec office in Beijing. ABP Headquarters Plaza is the center piece of this vast development which takes up about 65 hectares and total building area of 1,400,000 square meters. There are two office towers, four condo towers and a 3-story retail skirt that connects the two office towers together.
SaaN’s design uses oval shape towers as the basic floor plate for all six towers and fanned out two office towers and four condo towers along a central axis. Central green space is created as open park be- tween offices and condos, and entrances are formed along main axis and from surrounding streets. Retail shops at the office towers have arcade and a 4-story atrium in the middle. Four condo towers have dedicated elevators that bring residents directly inside luxury units at the top six levels.
International Crystal Plaza
Hohhot CBD, Inner Mongolia, PRC
A local development company, with King Deer, a national fashion company as their partner, has been selected to develop the first iconic commercial project in the newly relocated Central Business District (CBD) of Hohhot, the capital of Inner Mongolia. A design concept using faceted “crystals” was developed to reflect the local climate and the new economic culture related to coal and mineral resources. The project will be 4 million square feet and includes office buildings, a regional shopping/ entertainment mall, a 5 Star Hotel and Conference Center, 3 luxury residential towers and 3 levels of underground parking. The project is currently in the approval phase and is scheduled to start construction in the summer of 2012.

Groupe Actimo was a major European real estate investment/development company working primarily in France, Spain, and Germany. They built the Athletics housing for the Barcelona Olympics which was later converted into luxury condominiums. They purchased a historic building at 17 Rue Dumort d’ Uruville in Paris and working with Javier De’ Olaso of Madrid we converted it to a modern cooperate office space. Significant design features were the development of central atriums and skylights to bring natural light into an exceptionally deep building and enhance the work space.
49 West 23rd Street

WQB Architecture provided NYC Landmark Preservation Commission (LPC) and interior design and space planning services for an outdoor advertising company which specialized in media and movie signage. The company occupied the fifth floor of 49W 23RD Street.
As part of the comprehensive development of The Dream Downtown Hotel, Dream brought a classic luxury salon company, IGK from Miami and to be in the hotel. WQB Architecture assisted the principals of IGK Salon and Dream Hotels to design and develop their new salon in The Dream Downtown. IGK has become one of the best and most popular hair salons in Lower Manhattan.
Crystal Pavilion
Kansas City, Missouri
As a result of an accident at a hotel in the center of the Hallmark Cards, Inc’s Headquarters in Kansas City, Hallmark determined that they would like to build a festival mall and feature a 5-star fine dining restaurant. They contracted with Restaurant Associates of New York to design and build an open bar and all glass restaurant which is named Crystal Pavilion. WQB Architecture and JLG Architecture prepared design and construction drawings for the restaurant and supervised the construction process.
Tanner Smith’s
204 W 55th St

Tanner Smith was a famous Irish American bootlegger and his legend was chosen an opportunity to develop a new 1920s speakeasy style bar at 208 West 55th St. Dream Hotels owns West 55th St in New York from 7th Ave to Broadway. The Dream Midtown Hotel occupies the corner at Broadway and has a variety of food and beverage outlets. The Dream Hotel Headquarters is on the corner of 7th Avenue and has a restaurant on the first floor. In between is a residential building with first floor retail. WQB Architecture provided designs for a classic Irish bar and banquet space on the first floor and cellar.
WQB Architecture has renovated the lobby lounge at the boutique Dream Midtown.
The Lambs Club Bar and Restaurant

Originally built for one of the grand old theatre companies of New York, the Lambs Club was designed in 1905 by Stanford White, partner in the acclaimed architecture firm of McKim, Mead and White who designed the Old Pennsylvania Station and Boston Public Library Buildings. WQB Architecture, the Architect of Record, with interior design by The Office of Thierry Despont, was tasked with overseeing the complete renovation and architectural redesign of the building to create a magnificent and contextual 5-star boutique hotel in the heart of Time’s Square. The hotel is the jewel in the crown of the Hampshire Hotel franchise. New construction included the rehabilitation and addition to the existing landmarked façade, a four-story penthouse addition (which does not affect street side views of the structure), and a grand two-story atrium in the second floor lounge. The hotel includes a signature Geoffrey Zakarian restaurant, health spa, conference rooms, and banquet facilities in the basement. Construction was completed in 2010.
